What's best product for hair coloring?

i use a product that colors hair in 5 to 15 minutes, color lasts for about 6 weeks. Is there a product that makes color last for much longer, a year, for example?

in any case, can you suggest a brand?

thanks

****** if you are wondering why I am dieing my hair, it is because i look so young and a pastor should have grey hair :-) that is the color i want :-)))

What's best product for hair coloring?

i like clairol

What's best product for hair coloring?

i think u should use pantene hair expressions!

What's best product for hair coloring?

I love Feria, but a good one is the new clairol one because it gives natural highlights.

Also I don't think there are any dyes that last longer than 6 weeks, even when you get your dye from a place that carries Salon products.

What's best product for hair coloring?

well a year is pretty hard.. because all haircolor fades.. and turns yucky colors by fading and grows out of course so you have your roots show.. and if you use non perniment it will last shorter.. but level 3 or perniment is harsher and worse for your hair.. and I have heard box color you buy is bad.. but have it professional

So i have a hair coloring ques....?

I have been growing out my hair for almost a year now and it's 2 inches away from my belly button..

I have dark brown hair and i want to color it to a dark ash blonde or a dark gloden blonde and i know i would have to bleach my hair..

so my ques: is it possible to just get my hair colored without any cut or will my hair look very dead or if i MUST have a cut, what is the minimum i should cut?

i really don't want to cut a lot my goal is to grow it until my belly button and then get layers

So i have a hair coloring ques....?

that's REALLY long to have your hair out.

honestly, you won'thave to bleach your hair. you can have it lightened. it's less toxic. but if it's your first time coloring and you[re planning on lightening of bleaching your hair, i would definately definately cut it a few inches off afterwards since bleaching is pretty much killing your hair. plus, its too long to have your hair down to your belly button! haha

So i have a hair coloring ques....?

firstly your hair is WAY too long.

To get it coloured they're going to charge you so much or you're gunna need like 4 packs or hairdye.

You should get about 4 inches off.

Having hair as long as what you have doesn't make your hair look dead it makes YOU look dead.

Get two toned colouring.

So i have a hair coloring ques....?

that's a good length and i think it would be cute. you would need to get at least 2 inches cut or it will look AND be dead. but the place you should go to get it dyed is a salon called Moxie's, their dye and all their hair products are made from plants so its really pretty much safe for ur hair!

btw- i think what ur planning on doing will look cute! but u should cut it 2 inches before dyeing

So i have a hair coloring ques....?

it depends on how long you've been since having a trim, how much heat styling you do to your hair, and, in general, what condition your hair is in.

dark brown to you may not really be dark brown, as dark blonde to you may not really be dark blonde, so you may not need actual bleaching; a high-lift color may be enough to achieve your desired results. consult with your stylist and look at a color book together.

you sound like you do at least need a trim, which is recommended after any chemical service, as any chemical service causes damage that needs to be removed. remember, even when growing your hair, if you don't get it trimmed, split ends will cause it to break off as fast as it grows, so it will really never grow.

So i have a hair coloring ques....?

Yes you will have to bleach it and them color it with the blonde shade that you want. I would suggest cutting 2 inches off just to get rid of the dead ends.

Ladies, question about hair coloring?

I get my hair hilighted. It's naturally a dark brown but I get a light blonde and caramel color put in so my hair is mostly blonde on the top.I only get a partial so the bottom is my original color. I'd like to lighten the bottom part up as well so I can go lighter on the top, just so there's not such a drastic color difference. I have a question though, as I forgot to ask last time I was at the salon. What costs more; hilights or all over color? I usually pay 75 for the partial hilights. What does your salon charge for all over color?

Ladies, question about hair coloring?

Well i actualy worked at a few salons and most places will charge much more for highlight just because it takes them more time to apply it foil per foil....But just a full color applied to your hair is much easier and takes less time...the price really depends on the salon you go to, some places charge $150 for full head of highlight and some places will only charge $80 ...But i dont suggest you go out looking for a cheaper place to get your hair done since it much better doing it at a salon that u are familiar with ...or els you could end up getting realy disapointed. well i hope i helped you

Ladies, question about hair coloring?

I dye my hair at home, for under $10

Ladies, question about hair coloring?

All over color is going to be more but I have never paid more than 45 for my highlights and about 75 for all over color so you might be going somewhere that is charging you alot anyway. Call them and ask how much it's going to be.

Ladies, question about hair coloring?

Your first mistake is getting your hair highlighted/colored at a salon..they charge WAY to much for something you can do at home!

If you want your hair highlighted try using a Highlighting Kit that you can pick up at any Wal-Mart, Target, Longs Drug store, or Walgreens . It lasts longer, and most of the time looks better than something you'll pay for at a Salon.

HELP! hair coloring....gone bad. ORANGE? thank you sososo much?

okay, so i had blonde highlights before, and my natural haircolor WAS a nice medium brown. So, i decided that i was sick of my highlights, and...bad mistake, i tried to dye my hair with a golden color thinking it will blend the highlights in better. Well, i ended up with close to orange hair. Then i got it fixed and the salon person made it darker, with an ugly dark red tone to it. Finally it faded out and my hair is chestnut now. UGHHHH! i just want to get back to my natural color, WITH ABSOLUTLEY NOOOO RED!!!! please help!

P.S. This all happend in a 2 month period

HELP! hair coloring....gone bad. ORANGE? thank you sososo much?

I'm sorry but the only way to fix this with absolutely no red,is to bleach first and then dye with the color you want.

When a drop of red gets on your hair it doesn't go away...even if you dye it black!

Don't do it by yourself,go to a professional, but not to the salon you went before cause you're not pleased with what they did.

Ask a friend who trusts her hairdresser to make you an appointment and when you go there,be very specific about the color you want, mentioning exactly what happened to you before.

Usually professionals are a bit competitive so they'll try not to make the same mistake the others did:-)

Good luck!!!

Temporary hair dye in wild colors for dark hair that has permanent coloring?

Do they make it? I'm looking for something that I can add in, wear for 1-2 washes with soft hair, so no paint or spray on color. I'll probably use it in streaks to cover roots for a wild event. I'm talking about extreme hair color, like electric purple, blue, etc. Nothing that won't wash out in 1-3 washes, that will cover black hair and lighter ends.

Temporary hair dye in wild colors for dark hair that has permanent coloring?

For crazy colors, to make it noticable in the first place the strands you want colored really need to be bleached. I have a feeling if you put it over black hair, it won't even show up, all it will do is waste your money.

Temporary hair dye in wild colors for dark hair that has permanent coloring?

I actually need help with the same thing! without bleaching your hair first or even just lightening it at all, I'm not sure what you could do! spray on or painting it on might be the only options!

Temporary hair dye in wild colors for dark hair that has permanent coloring?

they sell in beauty stores and in drug stores and walmart and costume stores, hair color that you spray in and wash out.

Hair coloring smell?

the hair smell on the new "colour expert" crap makes me kind of sick. i just dyed my hair and i'm wondering if some other people feel the same way... prob never gonna color my hair again.

Hair coloring smell?

yeah the first couple times i did mine it made me feel light headed and stuff

i got used to it by now though

the smell will come out of your hair adventually and when dying it you should do it in a well ventalated area..

Hair coloring smell?

I've had that reaction too, but I use something different and bit worked.

Hair coloring smell?

haha ya i have that smell in my hair right now cause i just colored mine on friday..supposedly companys have hair coloring that doesnt leave that smell but so far it doesnt work

Hair coloring smell?

i always wash my hair after coloring and use my hair conditioner. it really helps.

Hair coloring smell?

i hate the smell of hair dye, its so rank and its like you can smell it for a couple days after you dye it

DISCUSTING !!

lol

Hair coloring smell?

ya you get used to the smell

What's coloring process is safest for hair?

Re color my hair for my birthday ., right now it is high-lighted which i had done about about 5 months ago ., My hair dresser says Hair color from the box is unsafe and a while ago suggested that i dont recolor my hair ., Anyways she says getting your hair colored by foil is safe . But i also want to know how safe Hair Rinse is.

What's coloring process is safest for hair?

I'd go by what your Hair Dresser says. We can't give you better advice than they can.

What's coloring process is safest for hair?

no hair color is "safe". they all use some chemical to open the hair cuticle layers so the color can penetrate the hair shaft. she's saying this so you'll go and pay her to color your hair. next time you go to her, tell her you bought some foil online and you're gonna try it in a few days.

What's coloring process is safest for hair?

No chemical/permanent hair colour is safe for hair. They all contain ammonia or peroxide or both. If you don't want to damage your hair at all AND actually make it stronger i suggest henna, it is extremely permanent and once it is on it ain't comming off (regardless if you try to bleach it) you need to take to it seriously.

I use henna, i love it.

http://www.hennaforhair.com/freebooks/

read up on it. Sometimes it is not safe to use on already died hair, always to a test strip/strand test. That is the best site out there.

Alternatively if you want to lighten your hair a shade mix some honey (1 part) and conditioner (2 parts) and apply to where you want to lighten and leave for 8 hours while you in you jim jams at home. This will lighten your hair. Even chamomile tea and honey mask will lighten your hair if repeated. But be careful, don't use this too much as it dried hair out.

I doubt the box dyed are more or less "unsafe" to hair, they are both the same thing, you can even go to priceline or other hair store and buy the peroxide nad die seperate and mix it with the exact same products the hairdressers use.

If i were you and you wanted highlights, and didn't mind damage i would leave it to the professionals, i once did it myself and it litterally burnt off my hair. I never dyed my hair again after that. (with chemicals)

If you want a change of colour there are herbs you can use with henna that will alter your natural hair colour. But it cannot lighten to much a degree. Goodluck!

Hair coloring? what looks good? any recommendations?

hey,

I'm looking to change my hair a bit..my hair is currently a deep burgundy brown. I'm not sure what its called but you know how blondes that dye the bottom half of their hair darker and the top blonde..what is that called? i want to do that but I don't want to go blonde..I'm a brunette and want to stay that way but what colors would look good like that? thanks=]

Hair coloring? what looks good? any recommendations?

what you can do to get a bright natural look is first of all, get rid of any burgandy color in your hair, have all your hair dyed one color which is medium brown (chocolate brown) then do some highlights on it (light brown, honey color), i think this way you will get a natural bright light look. And it's a nice color especially that summer is almot over and darker colors are better for winter than lighter ones.

Hair coloring? what looks good? any recommendations?

u just need blonde highlights on the top part of your hair ! =) o yea and that look is really cute......thats what i done!

Hair coloring advice!?

I tried to color my hair blonde today and when i washed it out and blow dryed it it wasnt the color i wanted it to be.. it turned out brown.. pretty much the same color i started with.. so if i color it again tomorrow will it fry it??

Hair coloring advice!?

The reason that it didn't change much is that box color can only darken your hair, it really can't lighten it. If you try again tomorrow it will most likely fry. What I suggest is that you go see a cosmetologist to lighten your hair and if you ever want to darken it you can use boxed color but to lighten it I would go see a professional.

Hair coloring advice!?

if you have dark hair, you have to bleach. you should wait a few weeks if you're going to bleach.

Hair coloring advice!?

Peroxide

Hair coloring advice!?

Try bleaching it. You might have to wait a few days. Just now try to deep condition it so it will be ok when you bleach it.

Hair coloring advice!?

With dark hair, it's always better to have your hair done professionally when going to blonde. Otherwise, you end up with weird orange colors! You'll want to wait about 3 weeks before having it done (or trying again, which I don't recommend)

Hair coloring advice!?

bleach it then color it the color you want so its not bleach blonde

Hair coloring advice!?

.

Hair coloring advice!?

Ok. to get dark ash blond you need a pro.

If you really need to do it yourself you can come close. Here is what you need to know.

To get from brown to blond you go thru red and orange. You may need to lighten (strip) your hair 2 times to get past the reds. You may still end up with a redish blond shade. You will have to color over this and may not end up with the dark ash blond you want.

How long is your hair?

Mine is waist length and I need 5 boxs of lightener for the 1st time 5 boxs of lightener for the 2nd time and then you would need 5 boxs of color. The pro may be cheaper.

You will look on the box for the word lightener and it may say will lighten 3, 5 or 7 shades in one use. This is what you are looking for. If you can't find this in your store and you are in the USA go to sally's beauty supply and ask for the bleach it may still take 2 uses to get past the reds and oranges.

Warning!! This will damage your hair as will any lightening process. I would start on friday then use a ph balanced shampoo then lighten again sat. then use the shampoo. Then color on sunday. Good luck.

Hair coloring q?

my natural hair color is light brown, and for a few years i have been dyeing it blonde, i want to go back to brown, so i dyed my hair dark blonde, then month later light brown and it turned my hair a redish brownish orangish shade.......i dont have the money to go to a salon, so how do i get my hair brown?, im scared if i go lighter it will be more orange, and darker it will get more red

Hair coloring q?

One thing to tyr before coloring again would be to get Selsun blue shampoo. put it in your hair while your hair is still dry and rub it in really good before you rinse it out. I had a hair coloring problem a few years ago and I called the 1-800 number on the box and that is what they told me to do. She said that the dandruff shampoo lightens the hair faster than other shampoo.

See it that helps. It is a safe thing to try You do not want to over process your hair

Hair coloring q?

Avoid "golden" or "warm" in the names. Think about getting an "ash brown" or at least the plain "dark brown." Anything with warm or golden in it will have "warmth" (red). My mother is a beautician...and I'm a natural red-head so: if your natural hair colour has some "warmth" to it, it will often go reddish when you put dye on it because of the lifting of the ammonia and bleach.

Hair coloring q?

you should use the clarol or erbal essance hair color and just get the dark brown

Hair coloring q?

Pick only Ashh shades, everything else will add red or other tones, Ashy colores take out red tones from the hair BUT it doesn't right away =S, so u will end up spending alot more that u thought, and u will damage ur hair by trying several times, be patient save up like $70 or less and go to a salon and ask them to do ur hair a light brown and that u want them to remove the red tones from ur hair, either by adding a toner or whatever they do, just go for a consultation first and find out how and how much and later do it.. i'm speaking form experience here, good luck!

Hair coloring q?

You need to get a color with cool tones, you are now using some that has warm tones, thats why you are getting the reddish color. Just go to your salon have them to check what your natural color is and then get the color from a Sally's beauty supply store if you have one in your area. Tell the assistant there your natural hair color level and tell her what you want and tell her you want it in a cool tone, and just apply it over what you have. Hope this helps!!!

Hair coloring tips??mom w/ gray!?

i was told once by the lady who use to cut my hair to only dye your hair 1-2 shades differnt from the natural color. my hair is a dark brown. i think it's call dark chestnut!? what is 1-2 shades lighter to this? don't want to many dark roots when it starts to grow out. %26amp; what is a good brand that covers gray but will not kill my hair? thanks. :)

Hair coloring tips??mom w/ gray!?

well i think i can help, i color hair for just about everyone i know including my mom who has grey too so my suggestion is to use a good cream coloring with conditioner. Loreal is a good one but you have to get the kind that says works good on grey! the cheaper brands won't give you the results you want and usually dont have good conditioner so go for a higher up brand and price. look at the box and look at the back, this will show you approxitmatly what color your hair will turn out when done. but keep in mind that everyones hair colors differently so you have to kindof experiment at first. get a color that isn't permanent if your not sure that its what you want. then follow the directions as to the timing because from experience coloring grey can be hard. 45 minutes is usually how long you will want to keep it in for better results. as for a shade if you want to keep your color more like it is now just find the one it matches best it really isn't bad if you don't get it right on because you can surprise yourself and find you actually like a different color, believe me i've had all kinds of different color hair and i've liked most od them!! GOOD LUCK!!

Hair coloring tips??mom w/ gray!?

I think the semi permanent colors are healthiest for your hair and more pleasant to use.ie Natural Instincts

Decide if your color is more golden or ash then look at boxes in that family one shade lighter (usually the number on the boxes get smaller).

Have fun with it. You can always change it next time.

Hair coloring question.. can u answer?!?!! plz!?

I have posted this before but got no answers.. i have two questions for ya:

1. ok i made a really big mistake by getting highlights in my hair, and i am really against dyeing hair. anyway so i didnt like them and when they started to grow out they looked bad, so i dyed my hair my natural color... but i know the dye will fade and the highlights will show a little.. so does that stuff called color oops and all the other stuff work? will it get rid of the natural color dye out AND the highlights out?

2. is that stuff really bad for ur hair? or is it maybe a little bit healthy? do u reccomend me using it?

thank u! happy new years!

Hair coloring question.. can u answer?!?!! plz!?

In my opinion dye are mostly give bad results to our hair!better go to hair salon to repair your damage hair!

Hair coloring question.. can u answer?!?!! plz!?

well i have no clue, since you have already posted this once and got no answers i think you should try going to their website and getting more information color oops

Hair coloring question.. can u answer?!?!! plz!?

I did the same thing and I ended up going to the salon and it cost me $85.00 to get it fixed. But it was worth every dime and I won't do that again.I think that would be the best thing to do so you don't over do you hair and burn it up. I had to get mine cut off to get rid of all the damage. Hopefully yours it's that bad yet. Good Luck and Have a safe and Happy New Year!!!!

Hair coloring question.. can u answer?!?!! plz!?

i dont really think its too bad for ur hair. why dont u try it and if it doesnt work out then just let ur hair grow out

Ethnic hair professionals or users of home relaxer and/or coloring kits, help?

I recently purchased Dark and Lovely No-Lye Conditioning Relaxed System for Color-Treated Hair by SoftSeen-CarSon. One of the warnings within the enclosed instruction sheet reads as following:

Do not use Dark and Lovely Relaxed for Color-Treated Hair if you use a highlift blonde hair color that requires a color-lifting booster.

My question is; what is a highlift hair color and what is a color-lifting booster? Also, how do these agents affect the information on the following web link?

http://www.hairfinder.com/tips/levelsand...

Ethnic hair professionals or users of home relaxer and/or coloring kits, help?

Blond highlights, which require 30 volume lift on ethnic hair, is considered highlift hair color. A booster is something that protects the highlights while you are treating it with another process. Basically, any permanent processes (highlights, relaxers) strip the hair cuticle leaving it susceptible to breakage.

Ethnic hair professionals or users of home relaxer and/or coloring kits, help?

well, if u dont have blond color in ure hair dont worry about it...if u do buy a different perm

Ethnic hair professionals or users of home relaxer and/or coloring kits, help?

The color lifting booster is the powdered bleach that comes in some of the Dark and Lovely Honey Blonde colors. The package usually indicates a color booster. It gives the horrible color of straw or very orange. It will definitely dry your hair out. If you haven't used a color with the booster, you should be good with putting the perm in. Just make sure that there has been adequate time since you've colored it. You're hair will break off, badly, if you don't. Give it 2 to 3 weeks before perming. If you are still not sure, head to the salon. They can color it without all the harshness of the Dark and Lovely products.

Ethnic hair professionals or users of home relaxer and/or coloring kits, help?

A booster is to enhance the hair color to make it brighter. If you have not colored or bleached your hair any shades of blonde or use a booster there is nothing for you to worry about.

Hair coloring...urgent!!?

have hair that is like an inch or so past my shoulders. it is like a boring medium brown color, and i have alot of blonde highlights in it, so it looks really good now. there is also a bit of red, but you can't see it unless you look really hard, and it is like a sopper, its not like deep red, but it is like a bark brown with red in it. anyways-- i am going to florida in a couple of weeks, and am getting my hair colored. i am gettig the regrowth for my highlights, and was also wondering if dyeing the underside a chocolate brown color ( just dark brown, but not like black at all..not that dark). would that look good? i have dark brown eyes, so it would defitly match, but would it look good? i think so, but opinions welcome! oh, and i also have longer side bangs, and my hair is layered a tiny tiny bit. thanks again!

Professional Hair Coloring?

Is it better to get your hair colored on clean hair or on dirty hair (Like, washed yesterday)?

* Hair Dyeing Tips

http://homebeautytips.blogspot.com/2006/...

Professional Hair Coloring?

If you are going to the hairdresser, i would wash your hair the night before. It's better this way, b.c it's hard for hair color to get past all the oils from your roots. I can't remember why it's not good to wash it the same morning... but you shouldn't. Maybe too much stress on the hair? Sorry i couldn't help more.

Professional Hair Coloring?

definately clean.its not nice going to the hair dressers with dirty hair.and also try not to put any products on it(hairspray etc) as this may affect the final result.x

Professional Hair Coloring?

i dont like it too clean or its a bit soft but not too dirty or greasy as it puts a barrier on the hair, making it harder to take the colour, wash 1-2 days before xxx

Professional Hair Coloring?

on clean hair of course

Professional Hair Coloring?

it doesn't matter-the chemicals will cut through anything on your hair. If it's a semi or demi permanent color they will wash it first anyway and put it on wet. (depending on the color line-some have different directions)

Professional Hair Coloring?

do not wash the day of or the night before because if it is too clean the chemicals will not soak in properly. It needs to have at least 24 of not being washed for it to do right. It is always better to go with unwashed hair and if for some reason it is too greasy the cosmetologist will wash it and it usually doesn't cost any extra.

Professional Hair Coloring?

if i were u i would leave it is because if your hair needs to be washed than the hair sallon will wash it free of charge. Also i like saloon washes because the pick the right shamopoo and conditioner for your hair type and put some ggreat styling sprays in it! i think saloons always wash your hair first because color goes on wet hair anyway!

Professional Hair Coloring?

wash your hair the night before!

FRUSTRATED WITH HAIR COLORING!!!! HELP me.?

I have been through 4 hairdressers in the past 2 years. I have some white/gray hair and despite getting all over color, it seems like the grays don't get totally covered. We do a base color and foils to highlight.

I have been very blunt with all of these hair dressers and explained I want full coverage. I do NOT want the grays to show thru at all. But each and every time I go home after the color...there are some grays showing thru. I am so mad because it happened again last night.

So what is the deal with covering grays? Is the color not being left on long enough OR is it just that these hairs are color resistent and won't take to the hair dye?

What can I do to ensure full coverage next time?

FRUSTRATED WITH HAIR COLORING!!!! HELP me.?

Well, grey hair is hell to cover. The pigment just won't hold in it for some reason. I am 22 and I have a few greys so I know. I just pull them out. You sound like you are older so just go with it.

Coloring hair WITH a chemical burn?

A couple of days ago i went to get my hair colored from medium brown to very light blond (almost white).

The chemicals were left in for a bit too long (to the point of bad burning) and needed to be washed out prematurely. I now have chicken yellow hair (lol) and a bit of a chemical burn on the lower part of my head. there are about 4 patches 0.5cmx0.5cm of deep redness and a couple of blisters have appeared.

Its been two days, should i get the rest of my hair colored correctly and carefully but leave the lower part of my head alone (where the actually damage is), or just wait it out until everything has healed up nicely.

Coloring hair WITH a chemical burn?

dont get bleach put on what eva you do :S... it is a personal choice whether you go back and get it re-dun etc but i would wait. i know its hard but your hairdresser should never have let it burn you thats terrible. i am a hairdresser myself (work from home) and have many clients who have extrememly dark hair but knowing the things that can happen i say this; would yoou rather get a half head or full head of foils rather than put the bleach straight on your scalp and end up with burnt/orangey hair? your hair could possibly fall out in a situation like that too... just be very careful of your hair and maybe allow some time to heal. it will only make ur hair worsse if you do anything further to it. if i was you i would wait another couple of months. hope it all works out

Coloring hair WITH a chemical burn?

The first thought that popped into my head the moment I saw your question was 'NO NO no no no no and NO!'.

Be careful with your skin, especially your scalp, if it scars, you dont want to have a bald patch.

So to answer your question, be patient, (as unpleasant as chicken yellow hair must be) and get it all done nicely in one go. Wear a hat or something; aw good luck with it all.

Coloring hair WITH a chemical burn?

I would have said wait till its cleared up then do a patch test to check you wo nt react badly again. If you want, visit a local hairdresser for advice, they shouldnt charge you to have a look. Definatly dont put more chemicals on a burn.

Coloring hair WITH a chemical burn?

I hope you didn't have to pay for that. I remeber a salon screwed up my friend's hair and they had to cut it to her chin. They made it so she didn't have to pay, but the next time she came to get her hair done the way she wanted it, they charged her for it. You shouldn't have to pay for people's incompetence, especially when it's something that bad. If I were you I'd be furious! Lol.

Sorry that this doesn't answer this question... Oh and sorry they screwed up your hair. =( If it wasn't a salon.... Then sorry that whoever did it....

ACTUALLY, lol. I think you should wait, just to be safe!!! =)

Coloring hair WITH a chemical burn?

def def def wait it out untill its healed! ouchy the chem will get into the blisters and ouch it wont be pretty.

Does black hair coloring actually make your hair turn dark blue?

I am only 17 and my hair is already turning a little white. My natural hair color is black as night, so it realllllly sticks out! I wanted to dye it for special occasions like prom.

But my friend said that if you use solid black color, your hair can turn blue!? this was from her dad's experiences.

She said to use dark dark brown color, but my hair is solidly black and I only have a total of about 20 white hairs!

IS WHAT SHE SAID TRUE? Is there anything else a 1st time hair dyer should know? Thanks!

Does black hair coloring actually make your hair turn dark blue?

It could if you use a black hair dye that has blue in the base. Not all black dye has a blue base though. You could get natural black, not blue black. Get the dye at a beauty supply store. It will say right on the bottle what the base color is. Good luck

Does black hair coloring actually make your hair turn dark blue?

Your welcome. I hope your hair turns out nice. Report It

Does black hair coloring actually make your hair turn dark blue?

it might tint it bllue and semi-perminant brands are more likly to do that

Does black hair coloring actually make your hair turn dark blue?

get just for men black hair dye...it takes 5 min .

it is in the grocery stores.

no it will not turn your hair blue if u shake the bottle real well before applying

Does black hair coloring actually make your hair turn dark blue?

are he kidding with u what dark blue

just ask people who are specialistes on that dont ask anyone

just make it brown it will be cool

Does black hair coloring actually make your hair turn dark blue?

it is not gonna turn blue if u buy jet black..if u buy blue black then it gonna look a little blue in the sun

Does black hair coloring actually make your hair turn dark blue?

It depends on your original hair colour and the die

Does black hair coloring actually make your hair turn dark blue?

it depends on what the base of that color is .

Does black hair coloring actually make your hair turn dark blue?

Especially because you are a first time hair dyer, I would highly reccomend going to a salon and getting your hair professionally done..

However, at home hair colors are offered in a wide array of shades, even for just black. Some black dye actually shines a very dark blue in light, but it usually will mention that affect on the box...

Hope that helps =)

Does black hair coloring actually make your hair turn dark blue?

"True" black hair will actually have a slight blue tint to it. Most hair that looks black is actually a VERY dark brown. Even though your hair looks jet black, it probably isn't. Look at it under a light--if there's a subtle blue sheen to it, it's a true black--if not, sorry--you've got dark brown hair. A safe bet would be a "natural" black dye, rather than a jet black (jet contains blue).

Does black hair coloring actually make your hair turn dark blue?

no

Does black hair coloring actually make your hair turn dark blue?

nop. hair colouring could be your hair disaster.

Does black hair coloring actually make your hair turn dark blue?

NO.....................!

Hair coloring? What am I doing wrong?

I recently noticed that I had several white hairs in my beard. I tried coloring it with Just for Men but the white hairs remain as white as ever. I brushed in the coloring, soaked in the coloring, rubbed in the coloring, I've tried everything and the white hairs remain.. What am I doing wrong? Someone help please.

Hair coloring? What am I doing wrong?

Gray hair is the hardest to get rid of because all of the melanin is removed from the hair strand. Melanin is what gives hair it's color. When the melanin is removed the hair becomes coarse, wiry and gray. This is very hard to color because of the new texture. So, no you haven't done anything wrong. Drugstores sell cheap boxed color but the reason they sell it is becuase it is inconsistent and it doesn't always work on everyone. You need a permanent color on the gray hair. Yes, they sell permanent color at drugstores but it isn't really permanent color. Your best bet would be to go you a salon and get your beard tinted. It is a very popular service among men and I personally have clients all of the time getting it done. It doesn't cost much, the results will be amazing because we are professionals and that's our job and, you only have to get it done every so often!! So don't be discouraged. Also if the whole salon thing doesn't work for you, try going to Sally's Beauty Supply. They sell professional products to everyone. Ask a sales associate to help you find what you are looking for. They have cheap prices and, it is way better then Just for Men or anything else you will find at a drugstore!! Hope this helps.

Hair coloring? What am I doing wrong?

How many hairs are still white? If its just a stray one here and there, you could just pluck them out.

Hair coloring? What am I doing wrong?

how long did you let it soak into the hair for?

Hair coloring? What am I doing wrong?

I doubt you are doing anything wrong. Gray hair is incredibly resistant to permanent coloring, straightening, ANYTHING! You probably have very very strong hair. Try a popular women's haircolor for your beard that has something on the packing describing the amount of gray coverage you can expect. Clairol is a decent one for a pretty good price. Just make sure whatever woman's color you buy is PERMANENT.

Hair coloring? What am I doing wrong?

get a regular color.not just for men.. that should do the job

Amonia free hair coloring vs. hair coloring with amonia?

Ammonia free dyes have a hard time penatrating the hair shaft. Hence they fade.

I need help on coloring my hair!!!?

Hello,

I have colored hair, right now it is a reddish color. It was previously colored a light brown with highlights and I decided I needed a change and went for a red. The problem I am having is the color has faded after a week and it has faded more on the bottom half of my hair. I need to fix it but not sure wether I should stay with red or go to a chestnut brown color. My skin is very pale with pink cheeks and my hair is not quite down to my shoulders. My natural hair color is light brown. Can anyone give me some advice on what to do. I have to do this at home due to limited funds. Thanks for the help.

I need help on coloring my hair!!!?

I feel your pain. I have colored my hair several times in the past for photo shoots, honestly, I got the most compliments on my natural color with lowlights. I like you have pale skin. My natural hair color is a mix of light blonde, light brown..when I mixed in a few darker brown lowlights all over.... I got compliments like crazy. I'd go back as close as possible to you original color, but here is a tip...choose a color a shade darker than your original. It will be dark for a week or so, but when it fades, there is your original color. Then, try soem lowlights...it doesnt tske many. If you are happy with the color it doesnt take much to maintain since it is your naural base color and you will be amazed at the health your hair will gain by not coloring repeatedly. Good Luck!

I need help on coloring my hair!!!?

first off are you sure the kind you have is good? because if it is fadnig after just a week you should call and complain. they should do somthing bout it but if they dont then try getting a better kind that you think would look best on you and that you think will stay in longer. i have a strawberry/blonde hair color and i have died it many diff colors and they always stay in bout 2 months so try somthinkg stornger ok good luck

I need help on coloring my hair!!!?

don't use L'Oreal Paris hair dye because it turned my friends hair orange. Use something like Herbal Essences because it works and it lasts longer.

I need help on coloring my hair!!!?

red color molecules are the largest therefore they fade the fastest. you need to use really good shampoo and conditioner and products if you stay red. the color will not last if you use something like pantene (or other cheap products) on it.

i would go for the chestnut color to do yourself because when it fades it will have a red hue to it. (2 colors for the price of 1 - i like that idea!)

if you don't believe me about the color molecule thing do a test:

get a pack of marlboro red (empty) and a pack of marlboro menthol (empty) and put them side by side outside in the sun. in 3 days the red pack will be starting to fade - the menthol won't.

or look at an old pepsi can. the red has faded while the blue is still bright.

A hair coloring question?

I have naturally medium brown hair. Back in early April, I had it highlighted. I've got about 3 or 4 inches of new growth, so obviously I need to either touch up my highlights, or maybe go dark for the coming fall and winter.

My question - if I decide to go dark, is it safe to darken right over my highlights? I will buy hair color at Target or wherever, and I've always had good luck doing it myself, but I've never colored over my hair when it's already been highlighted.

Is this safe? Will my hair fry or otherwise freak out? What do you suggest?

A hair coloring question?

You have to have a coloring lift. It'll make it to where you can dye your hair over light hair, and it'll take the bright color off, and put the new color on that way you don't have colors mixing together. Good luck. And if you have that much new growth, I recommend a hair cut too. Go for a new style [:

A hair coloring question?

U can dye a darker color.

Only it might look a bit different where it is lighter. No other problems.

Trim the ends a bit more than usual. The lighter color will go away faster.

A hair coloring question?

well first off its really hard to get rid of highlights if it was bleach so what you have to do is when you dye hair try and get all the chunks of highlights then leave on for about five mins the do the rest of your hair it should work if your going darker and your hair shouldn't freak out just condition it and just treat your hair good

Hair Coloring Disaster - Help - Aftering dying my friend's blonde hair Medium Ash Brown it turn

+Original Hair color was dark blonde + she had it lightened + and we dyed it with Medium Ash Brown = it turned silver/green/teal...so we tried to fix it by redying it with Medium Rich Brown, and it just made it darker/uneven/the ends are lighter than the roots ---- also the dye was level 3/permanent --- then we redyed it blonde to see if that would help---but it didnt :( , so is there any safe, guaranteed way we could just strip all the dye out and have her go back to her original hair color (it can't look teal/silver/green any more...she will NOT be happy with us... OOPS!).? Please send any suggestions!!!

Hair Coloring Disaster - Help - Aftering dying my friend's blonde hair Medium Ash Brown it turned green!?

Two things you can do:

1- Shave her head.

2- Buy her a wig. They have some really good ones now.

Too many chemicals, call clairol, number is on the box or go to beautician

The best thing I can think of is to shave it and invest in a wig. Hair grows back.

Hair Coloring Disaster - Help - Aftering dying my friend's blonde hair Medium Ash Brown it turned green!?

First of all, do not use any more dye for 6 weeks or so, you will fry her hair with chemicals. Then, do not use any dye with Ash in the name, it always turns my hair green, and my hair is dark blond naturally. Why are people always unhappy with what they have?

Hair Coloring Disaster - Help - Aftering dying my friend's blonde hair Medium Ash Brown it turned green!?

Thats way too much dye fr hair to handle. Her hair is going to be severly damaged now. You should get the color stripper and completely strip her entire head of any color thats on it. Her hair will be white with a little bit of orange tint to it, then you get the colr you want and dye it. After yu do all this you'll have one color on the head but the hair will be damaged so you will need to deep condition it ever few days for a couple of weeks.

Hair Coloring Disaster - Help - Aftering dying my friend's blonde hair Medium Ash Brown it turned green!?

There are professional products that may be able to strip out some of the mistakes in coloring. However, when you use a permanent dye, there are few options left. YOU MUST seek a professional stylist, preferably someone with experience in fixing color mistakes.

Hair Coloring Disaster - Help - Aftering dying my friend's blonde hair Medium Ash Brown it turned green!?

Uhm, this has happen to me before only mine turned red ish gold! It really sucks! lol. I went to Sallys Beauty Supply. Tell the you want a color corecte....for green. I used one for red/gold, but seeing that your turned green tell the you NEED green corecter.....They should be able to get you a tiny bottle of this stuff. Ask them how the would use it. I simply put it in my hair and let it set for about an hour maybe a little less. That should work. If Sallys is unvailble, any beauty store like that should carry this product. But I recomend Sallys just because they are who I always use. I hope this helps! And good luck! From an addicted hair dier. lol. bye bye

Hair Coloring Disaster - Help - Aftering dying my friend's blonde hair Medium Ash Brown it turned green!?

Either drag her to a salon and let a professional fix it, or try a stripper on it. Your best bet after all the things you have done to it is to go to a salon.

And for future reference - never ever use ASH. Watch all your hair dyes because that is exactly what any dye with ASH in it will do to blonde hair.

I used to lighten my blonde hair all the time. I now stay away from the blonde because it does nothing but strip your hair and kill it off. I am now very happy as an auburn lol.

But due to the amount of damage that is going to be done to your friends hair, I would suggest a professional at this point, because if you continue to use products on her hair, she could very easily end up loosing it all.

Good Luck.

Hair Coloring Disaster - Help - Aftering dying my friend's blonde hair Medium Ash Brown it turned green!?

go to the nearest Sally Beauty Supply or salon store open to the public and get a malibu or clarifying treatment.nevet do ash on blonde because ash is green you a need a color with a red in it to neutralize the green, depending on the condition of the hair bleach it out to a red/orange then you could put the ash on there, or go to a school of cosmetology to get the color corrected. good luck.

Hair Coloring Disaster - Help - Aftering dying my friend's blonde hair Medium Ash Brown it turned green!?

they sell a package of this product that strips color at sally beauty supply i have used it before and it works, ask the lady at the counter for color strip and its not that expensive around 4 dollars but you need a developer too just a small bottle

Hair Coloring Disaster - Help - Aftering dying my friend's blonde hair Medium Ash Brown it turned green!?

First of all blonde hair is really hard to get the color you want, but if the first color didn't turn out the first time i would have left it for a few days, and if the second time didn't work i would have gone to a salon were they know what to do when these types of things happen. but now i really think either she go in and see what they can do because they might be able to strip it out or if they cant then she might just have to wait for a couple months because of all the color that was put into it. but more than likely the salon can help fix it. but her hair will be fryed because of the coloring and if the salon strips it these are really hard on yer hair. i hope this help you out at least a little bit.

Hair Coloring in ten minutes?

Okay, so I am a medium brunette. I always color my hair at home every 6 weeks . I bought a loreal briliant brunettes box that says it lightens brown hair 3 shades and will make my hair a dark blonde. Has anyone ever used this before? I am scared to use it and do not want orange or copper colored hair. UGH....(smile)

Also, I was thinking of just puting it on sections of my hair like highlights . I know I can easily cover up the mess with a brown color afterwards. Any suggestions. ?? Thank you so so much!!

Hair Coloring in ten minutes?

cut a little piece of your hair just a tiny strand and put it on a plate. put the dye on the strand of hair and wait to see if it turns colors. I do it everytime b4 i dye my hair.

Not coloring ALL of my hair at home...?

i have completely highlighted hair, so the majority of my hair is now shades of blonde (i am brunette). i want to tone down my hair with a at home hair color. the question is, is there a way that i can let strands of my hair NOT absorb the color? can i apply conditioner to strands so that they won't absorb the color that i apply to the rest of my head? thanks!!

Not coloring ALL of my hair at home...?

you could just highlight your hair bown and cover the highlighted brown strands in foil (like they do at the salon) so the rest of your hair doesnt absorb the color becuase adding conditioner will make it messier and harder to control this way you highlight the part you want brown and wrap it in foil after each section. Thats whats always worked best for me. GOOD LUCK

Question about home Hair Coloring & latest Hair Styles....?

I want to color my hair at home, but am really hesitant about it. I have in the past, when I was younger, and it turned out horrible. I just dont have the money to do it at a salon, and really want to clean up my look.

I have dirty blonde/brown hair and want to color it a light/medium brown with possible natural golden highlights. I do have a natural red highlight to my hair (no my hair doesnt look red at all, but it is something my stylist told me).

What is a good product and/or color to use?

Also...anyone have any photo ideas of new hair cut styles. My hair is about mid back in length and straight. It's been this way for so long and I'm tired of it! I want a change..my hair is kind of damaged so I will probably end up having to cut a lot off. Any suggestions for medium length hair styles.....

Someone help, I'm gettin ready to turn 21 and I look 10!!!!

P.S....I like natural flowy types of hair. Think California Girl, but brunette. I dont like the emo, razor cut hair.

Question about home Hair Coloring %26amp; latest Hair Styles....?

Stay clear of the ash colors. I use Revlon bc of the price, and go with the lighest brown or the darkest blond without getting the ash colors. Their colors are darker than you imagine when you look at the box. I have very dark brown and use a blond to lighten it a little. I had blond highlights and when I used the light brown, it was actually almost my natural color....almost black. I haven't tried the ones that have the natural highlight mixed in with them. I started going to the cosmetology school to get my hair done bc they do the best job and are cheaper than doing it at home. Get a good amount cut off with light layers. It will add definition and still flow. Side bangs are in right now and look amazing.

Question about home Hair Coloring %26amp; latest Hair Styles....?

For highlights I would try the Revlon Color Stylist (I think that's what it is called). It has do it yourself highlights in the same box. Before you do anything, do the strand test on the bottom layer so you know whether you have the right color or not. That is the most important part. I've been burned by that once %26amp; landed up with black hair (I was going brown). As far as the style, have you tried layers? Its a great way to update your current haircut. Good luck.

Question about home Hair Coloring %26amp; latest Hair Styles....?

Just buy a light golden brown...try Garnier Fructis their hairdye is permanent but gentle..it never damaged my hair at all...maybe its the special oil that is added to the hair dye....get yourself some clips...separate your hair into four sections...start dying your head at the nape of the neck...take 1/4 sections with a comb..apply the hairdye...work your way up to the top of the head last...since you are a virgin hair color it should really be applied with a brush the middle of the hair shaft ...that means you would do the ends of the hair and the regrowth last....so it might help to have a friend help you out...

Hair coloring dilemma!!!!!!! Help please!!! Hair Stylists please help me!!?

Recently, I dyed my hair dark brown. My hair looks nice and shiny for a few weeks and then it gets really dull. How can I get my hair looking shiny and like I just got it dyed? BTW I have went and I got my hair done by the pros but the same thing happens. The hair color fades after a few weeks. Please help..

Hair coloring dilemma!!!!!!! Help please!!! Hair Stylists please help me!!?

there are hair products that have good color control: garnier fructis has a leave in conditioner w/ color shield and samy products are also good. to try something on the little expense side : there's kiels and serlerm products that run from 18.00 - to 29.00. kiels has a "creme with silk groom" that softens as well as shine the hair. serlerm, an online german product has a good conditioner and hair mask that works especially for colored hair. as an ethnic person with ethnic type hair, these products tend to quite down my perm while also giving me behaving colored hair.

Hair coloring dilemma!!!!!!! Help please!!! Hair Stylists please help me!!?

wash ur hair every other day only using shampoo 1's a week n conditiener the others my hair lady told me that also they sell just a clear gloss at stores you know like clear nail polish but for hair i saw it at wal*mart in the hair dye area.

Hair coloring dilemma!!!!!!! Help please!!! Hair Stylists please help me!!?

Once the color starts to fade a little you will get that dull look. Get a bottle of "Spray Shine". When using this product, only use a little, otherwise it looks too shiny.

Hair coloring dilemma!!!!!!! Help please!!! Hair Stylists please help me!!?

make sure ur washing your hair with color treated shampoo, becuz if ur not ur hair will fade and become dull...and go to the store and gert shine stuff ur hair, and maybe its the color ur salon is useing.

Hair coloring, what if & purples?

is it that bad to color hair if i washed it earlier today, its dry now but what would happen if i washed it? anything? its black hair dye if that matters. hmm... and what are some good purple tones for hair streaks, im puting the streaks in the bottom half of my hair where its black. please leave the pictures of the color

Hair coloring, what if %26amp; purples?

it depends on if you dye your hair alot. if you dont then you should be fine even tho you washed it today. but if your hair is really dried out then put a small amount of conditioner in it... like dime size for the whole thing.

Home hair coloring ?

I can't afford to get my hair professionally colored so I have been using the drug store boxed kind for many years, and have become good at it, my hair never turns weird colors like some people experience.. anyway more recently my hair hasn't been able to hold the color for too long... maybe 2 weeks before the color pours out almost completely while taking a shower... does anyone know what the problem is?

Home hair coloring ?

Possibly color damage, as to where your hair shaft is unable to hold the color. What I would try is a protein filler. They are available at Sally's, and the store clerk will help you find it. It is a bottle, about $5. What it does is fill in your hair shaft so it is properly prepared for coloring. It works like this.....

get hair damp and towel dry. Apply filler to hair and wait 20 mins. Then you apply your color DIRECTLY to your hair (do not rinse filler out). I know the box says apply to dry hair only, but I have been doing this for 10 years and it works awesome.

Good luck!

Hair coloring advice please... :)?

How do I color my hair into medium blonde without ending with brassy reddish tones?

I have med brown natural hair and it was highlighted and the highlights are now growing out. I've heard of this product at Sally's beauty supply that says "take the red out" or something like that. You're supposed to put 5 drops of it into your hair dye.....has anyone ever heard of this? Would this work if I add that to a blonde shade or should I just strip the color and dye it? I've heard if you are going to a lighter color like from brown to blonde then you need to strip the color out first then dye it. If I strip the color what product do I need to use? Can u recommend any or give me any tips?

I had thought maybe using the new feria hi- lift browns from loreal but I would really rather go to about a medium blonde.

thanks so much :)

Hair coloring advice please... :)?

use a red/gold corrector like take the red out. you can get it at any beauty supply store , like a sallys. just mix it in with your color. any time you try to lighten dark hair, it will pull red tones. also, be careful if using a stripper... i hate them but they are better on your hair than bleach. the feria works. i got mine to lift pretty well with it anyway. good luck

Hair coloring advice please... :)?

Try using a clarifying shampoo before any color service. In fact, it would probably be helpful to use the clarifying shampoo at least once a week anyway to keep the mineral deposits in your hair to a minimum. You can also get a packaged water conditioner to add to bath water which will help to keep the minerals in the water from getting into your hair and skin as well.

Hair coloring advice please... :)?

Honestly, I recommend you to go to a specialised salon because you already have a colour base. I couldn't guarantee you that what you're going to put on your hair will turn even green!!! And I tell you this because the colours are based in metals, like copper and iron, so... you would have to go to a salon to fix it... save it, in the long term you'll spend more if you do it yourself.

Hair coloring advice please... :)?

look around you local salons and get someone good to do it. I dyed my hair allot but sometimes i had to have someone help me. Cuz some dyes will wear out to were you have that red tint. or the blonde highlights can go turn the color way dark. trust me. For prom my hair was light brown with hightlights and i just wanted to have normal brown hair but the blonde took to it too fast and made my hair look like black. I was shocked lol. So went to a salon and got it done right.

Hair coloring advice please... :)?

Im sitting here with yellow hair right now, I just bleached it and Im about to put in a light blonde after. I would say that unless youve put red hair dye in before, you shouldnt have too many red tones with a lightening dye to lighten up. I on the other hand had a dark burgendy in september and in december bleached it to lighten once, then today bleached again to lighten more. Its really hard to get red out. If youre having a problem go to the pharmacy and look for Blondeissma or something else that contains peroxide. Lighten first to a shade lighter than your desired colour and then put your colour overtop. Im no hairdresser but thats what Im doing and I think its gonna look good.

Which store bought hair coloring is the best?

I know it is best to get your hair colored professionally but my hair is a different situation and i think i would waste money getting done by someone. My hair is dark brown and thick. I want to color it because I have noticed a few strands on the top of my head have lost their pigment and are white from stress. There arnt many at all but I still dont like it. I want to color my hair the same color I have just to get those white strands colored. No changing hair colors. So what store bought product should i use for my situation? (also need it to not damage my hair i use a straighthener and thats enough damage)

Which store bought hair coloring is the best?

Nice and Easy works the best for me. I have had gray coming in for a few years now and have tried many different brands. My hair is thick as well and very resistant to color. Nice and Easy seems to work.

With Sally Beauty Supply, you have to know the chemicals and percentages of each the ingredients. It is very easy to make a mistake and you don't have a help line or anything to turn to. Stick to a box for the first time at least. Good luck!

Which store bought hair coloring is the best?

The best "professional" like color would be at Sally Beauty Supply, anyone can shop there and anyone can buy stuff there. They're not that expensive either.

And as for damage... no color is going to be less damaging. Doing anything "unnatural" to your hair is going to be damaging. Make sure you use good color treated conditioner.

Will coloring my hair kill it?

I'm 15 and I have dark brown hair. I wanted blonde highlights so I did it but it only lightened all my hair. Two weeks later I colored it back to my normal hair color and put red highlights in it. It colored once again all my hair and now my hair is red with blonde highlights. Will doing all this to my hair kill it? Is there anyway to prevent killing it but still highlight? I want to let my natural hair color come back and put the red highlights or stips in it. Should I do it or will it kill my hair severely? I don't know what to do.

Will coloring my hair kill it?

I dye my hair all the time. You need to use V05 hot oil conditioning in between colorings.

Will coloring my hair kill it?

You still have juvenille hair, but you CAN dye it, but leave it in there for about half the time it would normally be. Trust me I know, I am 15 also and I have dyed my hair before.

Will coloring my hair kill it?

You can't do highlights by yourself because they never will be highlights. Only let a professional do that. It will take over a year for your hair to grow back in and I suggest that you do not highlight your hair anymore or else it will get worse. Keep conditioning it with a thick conditioner so it will not frizz.

Will coloring my hair kill it?

The more chemicals you put in it, the more you are killing it. Especailly since you have colored it so many times in such a short period of time. The best way to get a safre form of highlights is to use a product called sun-in. You just put it on your hair where you want it lighter, and set out in the sun. I'm not sure if its totally harmless, but i know it causes less damage than full out color treatment.

Will coloring my hair kill it?

it probably wont kill your hair. their are some shampoos and conditioners you can use that will keep your hair healthy. just dont dye your hair many times in a short amount of time, or it might damage your hair

Will coloring my hair kill it?

It won't kill it but it can be harmed if too much or improper coloring is done. Go to a salon and they will know how to do what you want done. Quit experimenting on yourself or you will ruin your hair that's on your head. Good news is that it does grow back healthy and natural.

Will coloring my hair kill it?

hair is dead skin cells...dead...just thought I would let you know that, fully realizing it wasn't helpful at all.

Hair Coloring help!!!!!!!! Matrix Socolor!!!?!?!?

you should probaboy lighten your hair first with lighteneing powder as blonde wont show up on brown hair.

i am a hair dressing student and we use matrix colour in our salon. i reccomend you get it lightened at the salon first then you can go over it with your colour.

I'm looking for hair coloring advice. My current hair color is sort of a washed out light ash b

hair tends to go brassy very easily especially the new growth. I would like to go darker, to a chocolate brown but I'm afraid that it will take the color up too much on the ends and then look weird. I think my natural color is light ash brown with a few scattered grays esp. on the crown. I've had past hair color disasters, mostly trying to go lighter and I've had fair results at the salon. Haven't really been able to find a good colorist in this area and my hair always tends toward the golden when I would like it cooler but not too ashy (green) Any advice would be welcome, esp. from pros or those who have colored their hair a lot at home.

Coloring hair with sharpies?

Me and my friend r going to color the tips of her hair with a pink sharpie just for fun (cuz shes getting it cut of the next day). iv heard its possible to do, but is their anything special u hav to do, cuz i heard u hav to use heat or somthing. i dont know cuz i color my hair with store bought hair color so i hav no idea how to do it this way. thx

Coloring hair with sharpies?

You just color it but it washes out. So if you wanted the color to stay in for a long time sharpies aren't they way to go. =)

Coloring hair with sharpies?

jus color it..

Coloring hair with sharpies?

Just color it! It wont wash out the first time you wash it but It will gradually wash out over time!

Coloring hair with sharpies?

coloring your hair will work but it will wash off...sharpies are only permanent on paper not on the hair

Hair coloring question HELP?

my hair is a light golden blonde color. the picture below is a pic of me any my hair color so you can get an idea.

my hair is naturally brown. I use LOREAL light golden blonde hair dye and have for the past 4 years. Same color.

Now heres my question. I want to get really blonde highlights throughout my hair. would that look ok? Also.. after i get it highlighted blonde color, am I able to get a few medium brown highlights mixed in as well? here is my picture.

http://myfilestash.com/userfiles/fastlan...

Hair coloring question HELP?

Absolutely, your hair would look incredible with dimensional color. Dimensional color looks more natural.

Right now, you have 1 color, all over. That's your "base" color. To liven up your color and make it even more incredible, you are interested in adding 2 more colors, a lighter blonde and a rich brown.

When you go to your hairdresser, tell your hairdresser you are interested in a dimensional color. Blonde highlights and brown lowlights. This can all be done at the same time.

Your hairdresser will mix up a blonde highlight product in one bowl and a brown low light product in another bowl.

The application technique will be foils. In one foil the lightener and in the next one the brown low lights. Your hairdresser will alternate colors in every other foil.

It will look amazing on you!!

What is the best hair coloring brand?

I have VERY dark brown hair. It is getting gray and I color it. However, the color doesn't last long and is usually too dark. What hair color do you think is best for lasting color and one that won't make me look like a witch?

What is the best hair coloring brand?

I use Revlon but i have hear that loreal is a really great brand to, they do not turn your hair orange and they are great. you should get your hair cut after dying it to get all of the dry end cut off to keep your hair beautiful!

I Really hope I help!!=)

What is the best hair coloring brand?

have you considered just rinses rather than all over color ? less chemicals on your hair and they should be able to cover the gray / give you a nice color.

What is the best hair coloring brand?

Redken ColorGels

What is the best hair coloring brand?

there are usually special kinds of dye just for grays. in fact, most store brand dyes say on the box "not for gray hair".

my advice to you is to go to a korean hair salon. they have something called a coating treatment. it's a color treatment that actually enriches your hair, so instead of stripping it of it's natural vibrance, it enhances it. your hair will feel silky and smooth. and if you take good care of your hair afterwards, the color should stay strong at least a couple of months. i recommend it to anyone who has damaged, grayed, or lifeless hair.

there's a catch: it's pretty expensive. $100-$200. but it's color AND treatment. you get what you pay for.

Thinking of coloring my hair. Any suggestions?

I'm asian and I have dark black hair. I have some white hairs not a whole lot. I was told to not color it black because its going to give me a gothic kind of look and also was told its going to look fake. Others told me to color it Dark ash brown. What do you suggest? Are the mens hair color products rated the same as the ones the ladies use?

Thinking of coloring my hair. Any suggestions?

just dye in with a semi perminate color black if its the color of you hair who care

Thinking of coloring my hair. Any suggestions?

Blonde highlights, would look awesome!!!!!!!

Thinking of coloring my hair. Any suggestions?

no. get dirty blonde highlights with some some brown. yeyeys

Thinking of coloring my hair. Any suggestions?

Every colorant is going to be a little different, whether mens or ladies, but they all do have one thing in common, they recommend doing a colorant test. If you are willing to invest a little time or money, buy a couple of different ones in the darker brown area, and try them out. Depending on your hair color, black may be ok, but often your hair is not quite black, and it looks really strong.

If you are nervous, you may want to have a stylist color your hair the first time. This way, they would be sure to choose a color that is complementary. If you don't like it, they will fix it. It costs a bit more, but should be worth it for the first time. Ask what color it is they use so you can do your own the next time.

Thinking of coloring my hair. Any suggestions?

dye it like brownish/black

L'oreal Hi-Lift Brown Hair coloring- Is it too much processing to only go a couple of shades li

I normally go to a salon to have my hair colored but cannot afford to lately so I need to do an at home color touch-up. I went to Sally's and was told to buy L'oreal Hi-lift browns in coolest brown. My natural color (w/about 1 1/2 ins. of growth) is dark brown and the dyed color is a medium chestnut brown. My concern is that this products requires a 30 vol. developer which seems pretty high. I don't want to change my color, at least not drastically. I was only looking for a color to match what I already have. I don't know if I should dye my roots first until I get the color I'm looking for or just apply it to the already colored portion first, as suggested, and then to my new growth. That just seems the opposite of the way its done in the salon. They first apply to my roots and leave on for about a half hour and then do an all-over. PLEASE HELP!!

L'oreal Hi-Lift Brown Hair coloring- Is it too much processing to only go a couple of shades lighter?

30 volume peroxide lifts 2 levels...so that should be fine and the coolest shade possible to cut the red-orange that is the undertone. Pull thetarget color through to the ends but with 10 volume for 5-10 minutes at the end of the processing time( that is at 20 minutes if you are pocessing for 30 min.)

Hair coloring, and straightening?

How will brightly colored hair do after use with a straightening iron?

Hair coloring, and straightening?

Your hair will be much better if you stop torturing it with crazy chemicals and burning devices. Seriously. Use a gentle shampoo, good conditioner, a seamless wide-tooth comb and put a satin pillowcase on your pillow. This will keep the hairs from grabbing on to the cotton. If you treat your hair kindly, it will look TONS better.

Hair coloring, and straightening?

It shouldn't make any color difference. Only chemicals will change the color.

Hair coloring, and straightening?

It will probably make that part of your hair a little bit more dry then the rest. But it won't bother the color. Your hair will be fine. Good Luck.

Hair coloring, and straightening?

should be OK, I use both, try a heat protecting product in your hair before straightening to protect the color.

just put anther purple colour over the top, what would help is for you to use a semi colour purple, this is because when you have bleached your hair it is very porous and the semi colour will grip better than a permanent colour as the permanent colour will fade quicker. use a shampoo for color hair.

Coloring over black hair.?

i dyed my hair black 6 months ago then i tryed to dye some of it red but it only took to the roots. so i dyed the roots back to black my natural hair color is dark brown but i want to go to a medium to light brown but i dont know how to dye over the black i dont want it to take to the roots only. does anyone know the process of stripping haircolor off and dying it again? thank you

Coloring over black hair.?

Putting light hair color over a darker color wont do anything, For a lighter tone you can use bleach with a light toner... If your looking to go just a shade or two lighter then I would recommend washing your hair with a good shampoo and baking soda to get allot of the color out, then using a color stripper (which will take your hair to a copper/orange color), Then a lighter hair color.. If you go to Sally's beauty supplies they can help you find a good one. If you are going to use the bleach make sure you get a toner, and make sure you get a Violet mix in avoid redness/brassiness.. If you go to a hair supplies store they can defiantly help you pick out the right things and help you understand how to use them. For damage after wards I would recommend a hot oil treatment and a conditioning mask called "Aussie 3 minute miracle" You can find this at any target or wall mart.. Of course nothing beats getting it fix professionally.

Coloring over black hair.?

ask a stylist

Coloring over black hair.?

ihave darkrown /black hair and i would go to a pro

Coloring over black hair.?

You should go to a salon and let the professionals handle it. Bleaching hair isn't the easiest thing to do at home. You might end up with hair you can't live with seeing every single day.

Coloring over black hair.?

There's a way to stip the hair dye out but it does way more damage than dying it. You could try bleaching it, but I suggest getting it done professionally. Black hair is hard to work with if you do it yourself.

Hair coloring turning my hair gray?

I bleached my hair for several years. My natural color is a medium brown. When I try to go to a darker blond now it turns it gray. I need to know what to use on it to stop it form doing this. Please help!

Hair coloring turning my hair gray?

I recomend to just lay off the dye for a while, let your natural hair grow in and then if that hair is gray go to a salon and get professional help.

Hair coloring turning my hair gray?

Coloring your hair really has to do with the natural colors.Your trying to turn it a dark blonde, its going to make it look gray.Medium brown and dark blonde together probally isnt going to blend the way you want it to.The chemicals in both your hair and the dark blonde are going to change.Plus i dont think its a good idea to "bleach" your hair either. If you want the color to come out the wy your hoping then maybe you should go to a salon.

Hair coloring turning my hair gray?

stop dyeing your hair.

Hair coloring advice please?

Okay, I have natural drk brown hair, and i dyed it darkest brown (basically black), about 8months ago. And now my roots are showing(I can notice it other ppl really can't). I wear a lot of sunscreen so my face is a little pale and i've been told my hair is to dark and it makes me look even more pale(the rest of my body is a medium bisque). Should i try and color it lighter?

Hair coloring advice please?

Well how do you think it makes you look? Do you like how it looks on you? Trust me I've dyed my hair alot of times and I've had friends tell me it looks awful or it doesn't go with me but at the end if you like it don't worry what people say. But if you don't want your roots to show then go to the stores and buy what you call a root touch up........or just another color......as long as you like it.......Well good luck hope my advice helps

Hair coloring advice please?

You can't color it lighter. You'll have to strip out the color using a color corrector. Color correction is very expensive, and it is NOT something you should attempt at home.

Hair coloring advice please?

No. unless you want to dunk your head in toilet bowl bleach a couple hundred times, then you will have bleach blond. Wait it out. You made the decision to die your hair. You gatta live with it! Sorry!!!

Or you could shave your head a glossy bald...but i don't think you want to do that....

Hair coloring advice please?

if you like your hair color then get a root touch up kit and jus tdo your roots

Hair coloring advice please?

I would recommend doing a highlight first to get use to a little lightness, then in a couple of weeks do a med ash blonde all over. i am not a professional, so don't think i am an expert but I do my own color and have for too many yrs to acknowledge.

Hair coloring advice please?

hmm i think if u want it 2 go lighter, u should buy blonde hairdye and make sure it doesnt have ANY RED in it because this could cause ur hair to get orange tones which looks realy fake. so when u put it its easy to see blonde develop so wait till it gets the shade of brown u want it 2 b and dont let it get blondejust leave the dye in until u have the color u want. if u have any further questions email me

Hair coloring advice please?

Stop right there. You will not be able to color it lighter. If you tried you will end up with lighter at the root area and warm, brassy ends. If you choose to lighten up I would head to a salon and try this. A French shampoo through the mid-ends to break the color. Then add a few naturally placed highlights just to break up the darker color. Color glaze between the foils to cool the tone and add shine. Depending on what type of over-the-counter-hair color you chose, how many times you applied it and the condition of your hair prior to application- that will affect how easy or difficult it is for the stylist to do this for you. This is not for you to try at home. Best of luck.

Hair coloring question, help please?

I had a reeeeaaallly bad bleach job done to my hair and it ended up very damaged and broke off alot. It looks bad because my roots have been growing out. Since I've been on a very strict vitamin and conditioning/repairing shampoo regimen, when will it be safe to dye my hair back to its natural dark brown color from light blonde, if I can even do it at all? Since It's really short in the back, and longer in the front, I'm afraid that if I let it grow out and cut off the tips, it will be two different colours, what should I do?

Will vote for best answer.

Thanks!

Hair coloring question, help please?

Hey! Go into a Paul Mitchell salon and they can give you a PM Shine. It's not permanent, and it is actually good for your hair. Makes it REALLY shiny and conditioned. You can go brown, and it will TEMPORARILY cover up your ends, until your hair reaches a better condition. Everyone loves it, and if you don't have one near you, Redken has a great product like it too. Good Luck, this is the best thing for you right now without damaging your hair and leaving your blonde ends out = )

Hair coloring question, help please?

well dont dye it just yet it will be ruined wear stylish hats or somthing just leave it alone for now or it will be ruined

Hair coloring question, help please?

Your best bet is to wait it out if possible. If you really must color it, use a temporary color on it (not a permanent). It will be easier on your hair because it does not contain peroxide.

Hair coloring question, help please?

Dye it now. Hair dye has things in it that help replenish your hair. Notice how when you get a good dye job your hair feels all soft and silky, even before the conditioner?

Hair coloring question, help please?

you can color it at any time. get a conditioning color though. continue the conditioning treatments.

What has happend is that the bleach has pulled all the pigment out of the cortex of your hair. the cortex is the color holding place in your hair. the cuticle (the outside of your hair "shell") has opened up, like little windows to let all the pigment come out to make the hair very light. Basically your hair has lost it's spine (or what hold the color is now mush). When you put color back in your hair it will fill in all the open little "windows" from where you have pulled all of the pigment out with he bleach. you will tell a big difference once you fill in the cuticle of your hair with your natural color, AND BE HAPPIER!...

Good Luck, and Merry Christmas

Hair coloring question, help please?

wow . well i bleached the bottom of my hair about a month ago and i didnt like the fact when i straightened it the blonde looked unhealthier than the brown [the top of my hair] so i dyed it all black recently . it looks wayyyyyyyyyy healthier :] so maybe you should go to a salon and have them dye it . then ask about keeping it conditioned and moisturized . hope i helped !

Products for hair damaged by straightening/ coloring?

I color my hair- I'm trying to get it back to close to my natural hair color so i can grow it out- and I straighten it almost ever day. It isn't really damaged... yet... What products can I use to protect my hair?

Products for hair damaged by straightening/ coloring?

They have a lot of sprays that you put on your hair before straightening it. I know herbal essences has one, I personally like that one. Vo5 has one. A bunch of brands has them. I suggest trying them out to see which one is best for you. I went through a phase of dyeing my hair a lot, and straightening it so much my hair started to break off. I got nexxus shampoos and conditioners (definitely not cheap) and also got a GOOD leave in conditioner from nexxus and used a spray when straightening my hair. It helped ALOT! Also, don't blow dry your hair if you are straightening it, it's too much heat and can damage your hair more.

which hair color is better for a dark skin person with short hair

Hair coloring for dark skin people?

It depends on what shade you are. But here is a general rule: NEVER dye your hair LIGHTER than your skin tone. Especially if you are darker than say a caramel color. It's EXTREMELY unflattering and makes you look very heavy set.
