Hair coloring question for blonde hair?

Im a natural "dirty" blonde, more of a warm tone. Right now I have some highlights in it that are more ashy blonde / cool tone. I need to get my hair done soon - and wants some more of the same highlights - but I wish the rest of my hair was a real light brown / wheat tone. So the finished result would be a light, cool brown with champagne, baby blonde highlights. Would that look okay?? How should I ask for that? Would they do an all over color - then add highlights? Or should I just get highlights and lowlights?

Cosmetologist here =o)

It sounds like you have beautiful hair already, but every girl always wants something different! Someone already posted about doing lowlights and highlites, and they are correct! You don't want to double process, because that is time consuming for you, but also, extra cost.. (im sure you get the picture) Anyways, there are several colors to chose from. Make sure a professional does your hair.. Do low-lites and highlites in foils.. I am sure with you having blonde hair already, your hair will be done within 30-40 Min. Good Luck!

Either way you would get similar results. The faster and easier way I think is the high light and low lights. That way you won't have to do a double process.

All stylists have books with hair samples in all different colors which your stylist can show to you. Pick the colors you are considering and then tell your stylist what base color you want and what you would like in the highlight area.

If your stylist thinks it will be a good idea she/he will let you know as well as explain any common issues you should be aware of.

For instance: I have always had copper red hair that is slowly turning reddish brown as I get older. So instead of coloring my hair all over in a copper red, I did a combo of red highlights and then blond highlights. My stylist explained to me that reds fade faster than other colors so doing highlights it wouldn't be as noticeable once fading takes place.

Something to think about also, if you are going to do a lot of swimming during the summer, the chlorine in the pool will cause a reaction to blond hair and blond color treated hair so make sure you discuss this with your stylist as well.

I think the champagne blond is an awesome color and with lighter blond highlights it will be great. Since you are already in the blond family, your skin tone will go well with the colors you wish to use.

You can get a color glaze between the foils to change the tone of your base. I would not low light this time of year, maybe in the fall. Best of luck.
