Post partum hair coloring?

Is it safe to color my hair while breastfeeding? If so, will the color take? I don't want funky hair! Thanks!

Post partum hair coloring?

It is absolutely safe to color your hair while breastfeeding. Some people would prefer not to just as some prefer not to color their hair while they're pregnant. If you have any reservations, consider highlighting or any other off the scalp procedure.

If you do choose to color your hair it will not react differently in the least. Contrary to another answer you received regarding this question anesthesia DOES NOT affect hair color in any way so if you did have an epidural or some other form of anesthesia you're A-OK. Anesthesia will, however, affect a perm and many times render it inactive. This is due to it's affect on the hyrdrogen bonds which are restructured during the perming process. The coloring process does not affect the hydrogen bonds in any way. I have had instances where chemotherapy reacts with a perm as the medication bands in the hair. But as far as color your results will not be changed. What may happen over the course of the next few years is that you may find your hair darkening and thus you would have to alter your color formulation.

Good luck!

Spend a little money at the Salon or go to one of the Beauty Schools , whatever don't do it yourself.

Post partum hair coloring?

yes, it is safe!

your hair might act different than normal, because you have a ton of hormones raging in your body, also if you had to have any kind of anesthesia... that may affect it as well....

It doesn't happen to everyone, but it does to some!

but yes it is safe, and if you're scared... go to a stylist, and have her do it for you, that way she can monitor it.
