Hair coloring info help?

I'm thinking about dying my hair a darker shade of brown, but I've never dyed my hair before. I would be getting it cut also, how much does that usually cost and what do I have to do to keep it up? Do I have to touch up every month? Is there any time when a different hair color really really doesn't look good on someone?

You should probably go with getting some of the color that you want streaked through your hair (lowlighted) - normal color touch-ups normally are done every 4-6 weeks - highlights and lowlights can be done every 6-10 weeks. Depending on your salon - cut, color, and style usually runs from $75 and up.

Sometimes getting your hair colored just one color makes it look a little weird since your whole head will be one color and most normal hair has different tones and colors.

all you have to do is buy some dye at a store, get a friend and have her put it in your hair. i have tried it and i looked beautiful the next day, that all the boys in school asked me out.

The mistake most people make is they put the dye into hair. First you must bleach you natural color out and then add color

The cost of dying your hair just depends on where you go and how long your hair is. You'll just need to call different places and ask them what their prices are. You'll probably need to get your roots dyed every 4-6 weeks, but depending on how little you want your roots to show, you may want to get them done more frequently than that. As far as different hair colors not looking good on certain people, that also depends a lot on your skin tone.

Well first thing.... make sure this is something you really want to do. After you color your hair you would need to always keep it up if you want it to stay looking good. If you change your mind and want to keep your natural color it could take months even years for it to grow out, depending on how long your hair is. Changing your hair color is always a great way to change your look. It will do damage and dry out your hair though. Just make sure you deep condition it once a week. Try L'Oreal Nature's Therapy Mega Moisture Nurturing Creme. I purchase mine at Sally's Beauty supply. The cost?... Well I live in California so I pay $125.00 every 7-8 weeks. Yes there is always a chance a different hair color wont look good on someone. Try this site http://www.stellure.com/

Cost depends on where you live and who you have do it. Where I live in Cali. we charge an average of $50+ for color and $45+ for haircuts.

You have to decide where you want this color for a long or short time. This will give your stylist an idea of what products to use IE: permanent or demi-permanent hair color. With permanent color I instruct my clients to get a retouch every 6-8 weeks however demi-permanent color is designed to fade with every washing.

And finally yes there is a time when certain color don't look good on people. This is something to discuss with your stylist. If he/she is any good they will be able to pick a color that will look natural on you.

Just so you know free_mark53 you do not have to bleach your natural color to add color. What shealynn_jaye is asking about is making her natural color darker. This process only involves adding a darker pigment color to her natural. Even when lightening hair bleaching is not always required, there are what we call high lift hair colors now that are a lot gentler on the hair.

Shealynn I seriously suggest you research your stylist if you've never done this before.

Good luck
