Is there anyway to "lighten" my hair color without Bleaching it or coloring it permanently

I have natural dark brown hair.

I want to go lighter (like an ash brown or so) but I don't want to bleach it or dye it with perm. hair color.

I have done the 'rinses' or semi-perm. hair color, but with darkers shades like plum, jet black, etc...

Is there anyway to achieve a lighter look without sacrificing my natural hair color?

Okay well there's this thing called Sun In. It's a spray-in hair lightener, mainly geared towards blonds, but it MIGHT work for your hair too. Godd luck!!

Theres this stuff you can buy and put it in your hair and you just go outside (like at the beach for example) and it will become lighter.

Dont know if it works for very dark hair but it did for me!

Try covering your hair in lemon juice - its a natural bleacher and wont harm your hair.

BTW you need to be in the sun for this to work!

Sorry 2 say, but lightening dark hair without bleach is only possible if you r looking to go with a reddish tone, and since you said u wanted an ash, bleach is most likely the only way to go.

Use lemon juice and sit in the sun....or they make something called Sun-In...spray it in and sit in the sun.

If you have black hair, you can start using color brunette enchancers and also stay active in the sun.

My friends recommend using lemon juice by spraying it lightly from root to tip.

Make sure all layers of your hair get enough sunlight!

It can be difficult to lighten dark hair with lemon juice, as it tends to leave orange streaks in hair. Instead of lemon juice, try using henna powder, which can be found in some health stores. Henna provides a protective layer over each strand of hair, which will make your hair feel thicker. To highlight your hair, mix henna powder with a light herb, such as chamomile. Mix enough boiling water with the powdered herbs to create a thick paste. Let the mixture cool slightly. Then comb it into your wet hair. Fit a plastic bag over it and let it sit for between thirty minutes and two hours. Leave the dye in longer for darker hair. Then remove the bag and rinse your hair. If you want faster results, let your hair finish drying in the sun. Henna can be powerful, so you may want to test a small section of hair first to verify the results.
